Baxter Supports Key Local Initiative to Encourage Road Safety
Baxter introduces local community to its STOP and THINK safety methodology

At Baxter Healthcare S.A.’s Castlebar and Swinford Manufacturing Plants, safety is of paramount importance. To demonstrate that safety is important beyond the work place the sites recently partnered with Mayo County Council and the local emergency services to support the “AXA RoadSafe Road Show” which took place in the local sports arena earlier this year.
The objective of the Roadshow was to encourage young drivers, and those about to commence their driving career to adopt a more responsible attitude in terms of their own driving behaviour. Over 1500 attendees comprising of community youth groups, students from 29 secondary schools and members of the public took part.
Baxter took this opportunity to introduce the “STOP & Think” programme which is demonstrated across the Irish manufacturing sites in Castlebar and Swinford. This behavioural safety programme, that was developed in-house, encourages employees to play an active role in eliminating potential safety hazards and risks for both themselves and their co-workers. This was communicated throughout the RoadSafe Road Show as it linked in very well with the event’s messaging theme, “STOP” - being the acronym for Safety is Top of all Priorities.
During the show, attendees had the opportunity to benefit from presentations made by: An Garda Síochána, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Service, Civil Defence, a Consultant based within an A&E Department in local Hospital, a family member of a deceased road traffic accident victim, a car crash survivor and an undertaker.
